The custom setting was created out of Platinum, for the sapphire.
The sapphire is surrounded by a halo of 8 high quality, well matched, round, full cut, scintillating, natural, earth mined diamonds (3.25 – 3.55 mm) F+, VS: 1.23 total carat weight.
The shoulders of the custom Platinum setting, are graced with an additional 18 high quality, well matched, round, full cut, sparkling, natural, Canadamark tm, “Hearts & Arrows” cut, earth mined diamonds (1.56 – 1.80 mm) F+, VS: 0.34 total carat weight.
This sapphire was chosen for the Royal Vault Collection, for many reasons. The color is the epitome of sparkling, ripe lemons and limes on ice, scintillating in the sunshine! She is crisp and clean.
GIA Laboratory
This sapphire is a bit of a chameleon, having made two separate trips to GIA Laboratory in Carlsbad, California.
#1: The first trip, the gem was delivered to GIA as a “loose gemstone.” The sapphire was analyzed by gemologists, and the GIA Report Number was laser engraved on her girdle, for future identification. (A copy of the 1st GIA Report will accompany this sapphire, withe the 2nd GIA Report, after the gem had been set in Platinum.)
Soon after returning from GIA Laboratory in Carlsbad, California, the sapphire was set in a custom, platinum setting, surrounded by a halo of high quality diamonds. After being set, we noticed a change in color, depending on lighting. In sunlight, we see a crisp, cheerful, sparkling, lemon lime green. Indoor, we see her change to a plum color.
After being set, the sapphire was again returned to GIA Laboratory in Carlsbad, California to be analzed a second time for what we believed to be a “color change,” which is very rare.
The professional gemologist’s at GIA Laboratory, determined the change in color, is not enough for this gemstone to be designated a “color change sapphire.”
Believe us when we tell you, the color will change from sparkling and bright lemon lime (sunshine), to a regal plum (indoors).
#2: GIA Laboratory issued a second report (Same GIA Report Number), which has a photo of the sapphire, “set” in the custom Platinum setting, surrounded by high quality, natural, earth mined diamonds.
Platinum
The mount was created of 95% Platinum and 5% Cobalt (Pt-Co). Pure excellence! Famous gemstones such as the Hope Diamond and Star of Africa, are set in Platinum.
A unique quality of Platinum, which differs from other precious metals like gold, is that when Platinum is scratched, it is merely displaced, instead of being lost. Platinum is so rare, that the total amount ever mined, could fit into an average sized living room.
Chartreuse is presently considered an “Evening Ring,” as there is no wedding band.
We are happy to assist you, if you would like to explore creating a custom, coordinating piece, such as a wedding or grooms band. We would love to hear your ideas, and make them a reality.
Sizing
All rings in the Crown Vault Collection are Platinum, and created in a size 7.
There is no cost to our clients, for sizing a piece from our Crown Vault Collection.
Chartreuse is a premiere piece. Our goldsmith will make certain, sizing is done properly, without negatively affecting the structural integrity. Platinum will be added, to size up. Please, do not purchase this piece, and take it to a jeweler who might stretch the Platinum band, to increase the size.
It is important for our customer’s to know: Once a ring has been changed in any way, which includes changing the size, we can no longer market the piece as “new” to another client, and the piece is no longer returnable.
