Diamond & Sapphire Bracelet in 14k White Gold
A near mint, spectacular, 14k White Gold, Art Deco bracelet from the 1920’s.
Delicate filigree design, incorporates delicate flowers with leaves diagonally. Marquise shaped sapphires, measuring approximately 6mm x 2.5 mm were bezel set, flank each side of the center diamond.
Three rows of delicate milgrain, surround the scintillating, center diamond, which is natural and earth mined. The center diamond is a round, single cut diamond, measuring approximately 2.0 mm. This beautiful bracelet is 7″ long, and weighs approximately 11.84 Grams (14k White Gold). Though these pieces were exceptionally well constructed, the wrist of the wearer, should measure no more than 6 1/2″, so the bracelet is not stressed.
Many authentic Art Deco pieces made of precious metals created out of gold or platinum, were melted down, when they were no longer considered “fashionable,” by younger generations. Wearing a piece like this today, is truly special, not just for the wearer, but the admirer.
Art Deco Jewelry and Synthetic Gemstones
We are passionate about the authenticity of our gemstones at the Earth Mined Sapphire Company, but we do make educated exceptions: Authentic, Art Deco jewelry is one of those rare exceptions.
Synthetic sapphires, rubies, emeralds and other colorful gemstones, were often used by designers and goldsmiths, during the Edwardian and Art Deco periods, as colorful gemstones were in high demand, for many years. Additionally, the specific color of gemstones used, was very important to designers, goldsmiths and jewelers.
Earth mined gemstones, were as difficult to source a hundred years ago, as they are today. These pieces are not valued for the gemstones, but for the “art,” condition and rarity.
Synthetic gemstones should never be removed or replaced, for doing so, would damage the original design. Synthetic gemstones were often, but not always used, during this period. Synthetic gemstones do not devalue an authentic piece of Art Deco or Edwardian jewelry. Many times, the synthetic gemstones serve to assist in authentication.
