2.99ct Light Pink Morganite

Madagascar

GIA Report Number:  6204857732

Here is an absolutely lovely light pink Morganite.  This gemstone is seeking the hand of a princess.

This gemstone is crisp and clean, flashing a show of soft pink and soft magenta/lilac, which is very desirable.  Indoor, soft princess pink is the predominant color.  Outdoor, this gem flatters with a show of lilac flashes over soft pink.  This gem is awaiting a princess.  But, to be clear, this Morganite is a stunner.  No one in the room or outdoor will miss the spectacular show of color.

Morganite was named after financier J.P. Morgan.  In 1910, a new discovery of rose colored beryl was found in Madagascar.  In December of 1910, George F. Kunz (1856-1832) a mineralogist, gemologist, chief gemologist for Tiffany & Co. and author, proposed naming rose colored beryl “Morganite” to honor J.P Morgan, during a meeting at the New York Academy of Sciences.  JP Morgan was a financier, philanthropist and gem collector.

We tend to associate gemstones with romance.  I believe when romance of the heart and a love of nature are combined, a sincere romance with gemstones is likely to follow.

Beryl doesn’t sound very romantic.  It may surprise you to know the varieties of beryl.  Emerald is a green variety of beryl. exceedingly rare when of gem quality.  Aquamarine is another variety of beryl, with cool hues of greenish-blue to blue.  Golden Beryl, sometimes called Heliodor (some believe “Heliodor” is more yellow than gold).  Goshenite is the purest form of beryl, near colorless or colorless.   The next time you see an Emerald, you’ll know it’s beryl.

This truly beautiful Morganite would be absolutely stunning set as a solitaire, in White Gold or Platinum.  A vision of Swan Princess comes to mind, if the Morganite were surrounded by a halo colorless Morganites.

If this beautiful gemstone is finding a place in your heart, for yourself or a gift for another, please email us your design ideas.  We will be happy to work with you, to create a custom piece of fine jewelry that will be loved today and tomorrow.
