    14.75 x 13.57 x 10.42 mm

    Origin:  Brazil

The Aquamarine is another spectacular gift from Mother Nature.  The name given to this gemstone is rooted in Latin:  "Aqua" for water and "Marina" for sea.  Many believe the Aquamarine keeps sailors safe when at sea and calms the waters. The cool and crisp colors hues of Aquamarine, include blue and greenish blue.  The Aquamarine is a pleochroic gemstone, showing different hues of green and blue at different angles and in different lighting conditions.  This spectacular, cheerful and happy gemstone is another gift from Mother Nature. This presence of this spectacularly clean, 12.35ct greenish blue Aquamarine, is something few will miss.   To those who appreciate fine gemstones, a true beauty. The abundant size of this Aquamarine creates endless possibilities, when considering the creation of a fine piece of jewelry.  The choice of metal is something considerable thought should be given to.  Pairing this Aquamarine with Platinum or White Gold would keep the cool and icy crispness of the naked gem.  Setting the Aquamarine in Yellow Gold would gently warm the Aquamarine. Most Aquamarines have been treated to improve their color.  This gemstone has not been treated. This Aquamarine could be set into a ring or pendant as a solitaire.  The gemstone could also be adorned and protected by natural, earth mined diamonds. Note:  Aquamarine is a variety of Beryl.  Beryl varieties include Emerald, Aquamarine, Heliodor, Morganite, Goshenite and Red Beryl.  The hardness of Beryl is 7.5 - 8.0.  Diamond hardness on the Mohs Scale is a 10.0, the hardest of all gems.  Though many believe natural diamonds used as accent fine gems are for adnornment purpose. natural diamonds may also serve to physcally guard and protect a main gemstone. Aquamarine and other varieties of Beryl should be thoughtfully worn, avoiding activities which might chip or scratch the precious gem.
